Life is screwy, ain’t it? The more I’m inundated with images and sounds from popular culture the more I am reassured of that. From the role of a spectator I will use the blog as a platform of opinion, not in an attempt to sway you to partake in the media I will review. I am by no means a “reviewer,” I hate to be told what to watch or read but I like to share my thoughts and if you see it and find something you like all more the better. Enjoy! or not, it’s entirely up to you.

Review: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Review: Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Dir. Rupert Sanders
Stars: Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron
PG_13 127 min
Everyone knows the basic plot of Snow White so I won't get into it. I was not sure what to expect from a re-telling of a fairytale. They are either hit or miss. This was a fairly good film. I enjoyed the look of the film a lot as well as the little bits of humor. The humorous parts are mostly courtesy of the dwarves, including one of my favorite comedic actors: Nick Frost(Paul, Hot Fuzz, and Shaun of the Dead.)
There are only two things that I disliked:
1. Charlize Theron's accent (What the F*&% is it supposed to be?) Her pronunciation of "girl" as "gullll" is majorly cringe worthy.
2. The anti-climactic ending Kristin Stewart's barely there smile left me thinking is that all there is...?
It's worth a watch for sure, and they are already talking about a sequel.

Good review Melissa. It was stylized in a more dark and gritty way, than we usually see from fairy-tale movies, but I still liked that about it even when the story started to get weaker. Also, just couldn't take my eyes off of Theron. Not only was she beautiful, but also pretty great in this evil role of hers.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dan. Theron's body language was wonderful. She really inhabited the role fully. Both a friend and I love the scene after she attacks Snow and she end's up back at the castle in a pile of black liquid.
